An accident data key can collect the last 100 minutes of driving (second by second data)

In order to create and read an accident key, you require the following parts.

1) Geoport USB Key Downloader

2) Blue Key (previous data will be overwritten)

In Checkmate 5.1, follow these steps

1) Click Tools -> Key, and select create key

2) Select accident data key

3) Follow through the wizard to create the key

4) Insert and hold this key into the vehicle - you will hear several ticks. Once you hear a distinct 2 beeps, the accident data has been downloaded to a key

5) Insert this key into your Geoport Key Downloader. The key downloader will sound every second while data is being downloaded, then it will sound 2 beeps to indicate completion

We have a truck we are trying to pull data from but when the key is inserted it doesnt beep.
It did download all the data from the point the truck stoped on the road, when the truck was brought back to the warehouse. Ii can see where the key was turned off and on in a 2 to 3 hour period after the accident. could it be that we lost our chance to pull the data since it was pulled with the rf downloader or would it have lost the data in the 2 - 3 hour period where the truck was turned off and on?

Hi Doug,

Accident data can only be downloaded using an Accident Key that can be created in Checkmate. Accident data cannot be sent over the air via RF.

The accident data memory stores 1 hour of second by second GPS data. Data is only logged to accident memory when the GPS data is considered valid and the GPS speed exceeds 2 km/h. The accident data is recorded circular fashion. Oldest data will be over-written first. If the accident key was inserted into the unit , after 1 hour of driving since the accident, the second by second data will have over-written.

If the key was turned off after the accident, then the accident data would not have been over written. The last 100 minutes of second by second data is still available.

In Checkmate 5.5, once you have used an Accident key to extract the accident data from the vehicle you can perform the following to download the data:

- Enable the key reader services
- Go to Vehicles and Devices --> Troubleshooting and Accidents --> Accident Key Wizard --> select "Download Accident Data from a Key" and follow the rest of the steps in the wizard
- Once the download is complete, you should be able to see the accident data on the map for the respective trip in which the accident occurred
- You can also see the data in the Log Details Report (all the log reasons will be labeled as 'Accident')
