Geotab recommends that you use SQL Server 2005 Express.  This program has a number of advantages over Microsoft Access including the ability to support multiple users, and faster access to large databases.  To download SQL Server Express 2005, go to www.geotab.com/downloads.
To upgrade your current MS Access to SQL follow these steps:
1. Create a new SQL database in CheckMate (view How to create a new SQL Database thread for instructions)
2. Select Tools->Import->Other Database
3. Select the link "Click here to select database"
4. Choose Microsoft Access Database as the Database Type, and enter the path of the Access database you wish to convert into the "Path of Access (MDB) file".  Click OK
5. Click Import.
 
Please Note: If you have recently upgraded from CheckMate 5.0 to CheckMate 5.1, you must upgrade your Access database before you can convert it to SQL.  To upgrade your Access database, follow these steps:
1. Backup your Microsoft Access database to a different location on your hard drive.
2. Go to Setup->Options and select the Database tab
3. Choose Microsoft Access Database as the Database Type, and enter the path of the Access database you wish to convert into the "Path of Access (MDB) file".  Click OK
4. You will recieve a notification that CheckMate must upgrade your database, and that the proccess is irreversible.  Click OK to upgrade the database.
