I need to know how to unprogram a previous driver from the go key and add a new one. I tried to assign a new driver to the key and it keeps telling me to delete the key info first, but I can't figure out how to do that. Help! I have been messing with this new program for weeks now and am having a horrible time trying to get any answers.

Good Afternoon,

To find out which driver the key is currently assigned to follow the steps below

In Checkmate 5.3.1

1) Click Vehicles & Devices -->Troubleshooting -->Read Key Info
2) Insert the key into the Key Downloader. If the key is already assigned to a driver, the driver's name will appear.
3) To "unprogram" the key, you must remove the old driver. Click Drivers&Activity-->Drivers
4) Run the Report and select the driver that the key is currently assigned to
5) Click "Remove Driver"
6) Click Yes to make the driver historic and preserve data, or click no to delete the driver and all associated data.

If you still encounter an issue, please visit the contacts page on www.geotab.com and submit your contact details. Please include the company which the system was purchased from so that we can include your dealer in the troubleshooting process.

I am able to create a driver key after following the directions above. But what is the difference between an Identification key and Identification & trip data transfer key?

Good Afternoon,

A Driver ID key is used for identifying trips with a specific driver and a Driver ID and Data Transfer key is used to identify trips to a driver as well as download the trips via key to Checkmate. The ID and Data Transfer keys are designed for when the trips are to be downloaded to Checkmate using keys.

Hi,

To edit the go keys, go to Drivers & Activity --> Drivers. Find the go key you would like to edit in the menu on the left side of the screen and click 'Show Report'. Click on the key in the main window and then select the 'Edit Driver' option at the top of the screen. Under the 'Description' field, type the name of the driver or the name you want to assign to the key.

Regards,
