Hi there. One of my larger clients requires a notification if any of his vehicles starts after hours. All he wants is an email to be sent as soon as the the ignition comes on, so that he can decide whether to take action or not.
I can create a rule which notifies him of driving activity after hours, but he doesnt want this - he only wants to see the ignition coming on as they have an issue whereby the security guards are starting the vehicles and idling for long periods to listen to the radio or sit with the airconditioner on

Hi Russell,
To add an ignition ON condition to an exception rule - select the "Idling" checkbox on the last page of the exception rule editor (Checkmate 5.3.1 and higher).
Please let me know if you require more information.

HI Tony
Thanks, we tried that but the only problem is that it generates an exception every time the speed drops below (eg 5km/h) which means that every time the vehicle pauses at a stop street or traffic light an exception is generated. Is there no way of triggering an exception and thus a notification only as the ignition comes on?

Hi Russell,
It isn't possible to to alert only when ignition status changes from OFF to ON without additional installation.
For your purpose, one option is to wire an auxiliary to monitor the starter motor on the vehicle. Since starter moters are only powered during crank, you may get an auxiliary toggle only when the ignition changes from OFF to ON
