Hi there. We have had several clients asking us about the ability to generate speed exceptions in Checkmate using the individual speed limits on the maps themselves. We understand that these limits are available as a seperate layer both on the ESRI maps we use here in SOuth Africa, as well as on the Openstreetmaps. In one of the video session you had late last year it was mentioned that this was "in process" - any news? Our biggest local opposition (*****) has already launched it here, and of course we do not want to be left behind...

Hello,

There is currently a project in Checkmate development that will allow users to click on a road in a Map and view the posted road speed if road data available. The developer on the project estimates that it will be available 2010 3rd quarter.

Creating exception rules with posted road speeds is a more difficult task. The developers are reviewing this possibility. Checkmate will need to determine the exact route the vehicle took. Example: If a vehicle is close to 2 roads with different posted speeds or vehicle is in a new housing development areas where road does not exist.

No, this has not been implemented. The development came to a standstill last year. This has now been resumed and we will start deploying it in our test environment soon. Unfortunately, the availability of this will depend on the testing so I have no estimated release date as of yet.

What is the status of this change? It is imperative to our operation that we can view the posted speed limit as well as the speed of the vehicle. This function will be a deciding factor in our Corporate OBC purchase.

Is this feature currently active ? I was hoing to see current speed vs. road segment so we can detect when a vehicle exceeded the posted speed limit.

Hi Xsaan,

The feature will be available with the release of Checkmate 5.6 which is not due out until early next year.
