Please send me as much information as you could possibly send me about the GO5. I've spent all day yesterday and today looking for information such as:
Can I get actual speed?
RPM's?
Fuel Level?
Engine Temp?
Codes? which ones?
I need as many details as possible please. I have read everything there is to read on the web, and it's not enough, does not respond my questions.

Regards,

Ben Sanchez

Hi Ben,

Here are the answers to your questions:
1. We log GPS speed because it is more accurate due to external factors such as tire pressure. We use engine road speed only to prevent GPS wobble.
2. You can set a rule for over-revving. Over rev RPM value will be logged
3. Fuel level – yes as long as manufacturer supports it
4. Coolant temp - yes as long as manufacturer supports it
5. Pending and Fault codes are logged every trip

Let me know if you need any more information.

Thank you for your fast response.

When you say "as long as the manufacturer supports it", how can I know which manufacturers support what? do you have a list that specifies this?

Regards,

Ben

Hi Ben,

We do not have a list of manufacturers that support this. However, if you encounter a case in which you do not receive any engine data from a vehicle that you feel should be providing it then please submit it to us. Our support and firmware departments will then investigate and see if it is possible to add support for that vehicle.

For supported vehicles, does the GO5 automatically retrieve VIN and initial odometer reading when the GO5 is first installed and registered? If so, then if the same GO5 unit is reassigned to another supported vehicle, does it retrieve the new VIN and initial odometer data when connected to the second vehicle with the result that Checkmate creates a new record showing VIN and initial odometer reading for the second vehicle while saving the records created by that Go5 unit for the first vehicle?

The VIN is requested at power up.
The odometer is requested at the end of each trip.
The VIN displayed in the device details would be replaced if you moved the device to a new vehicle however the old VIN would still be available through the log details and accident report.

I'm seeing many messages with other details in the Log Details and Accident Report, but none showing VIN. The version I'm running is Geotab Checkmate Server Version: 5.5.1.14827. I'm using a new GO5 and the vehicle I'm testing is a 2005 Mercury Sable, which the log shows has a CAN databus.

Do I need to change to a different version, or is there some setting I need to change?

Are you seeing the correct VIN number for the vehicle in the device details report in Checkmate? To run a device details report follow these steps:

1. From the Checkmate home page click 'Vehciles and Devices' -> 'Vehicles and Devices'
2. Click More -> Show More Detals to expand the report to include the VIN column.

Do you know which fimrware version the device is running (this information is also in the device details report)?

Yes, the Vehicles and Devices report is showing the VIN.
The GO5 firmware version is 100.3.45. The GO5 I'm using was shipped to me from Geotab on Thursday of last week.

Is that a version that supports log details of the VIN that you mentioned? If not, how do I arrange to revise my unit to a firmware version that does support this feature?

We do not record the VIN number in the log details report. When the unit records the VIN to Checkmate it will assign the VIN number to that vehicle in the database, which you can view in the Device Details report. If the VIN number is not recorded by the unit, the VIN number for the vehicle will be blank in the Device Details report.

Hello,

We just installed 4 GO5's yesterday, and I am trying to figure out how to set it up so that when one of the installed devices leaves a certain zone, there is an SMS and/or email sent to a specific user. Is there a way to do this? I seem to keep running into roadblocks.

Hi Elliot,

To do what you want you need to first create the zone in checkmate and if you are going to assign it to a group make sure that the devices are part of the same group as well.
Once that is done you would need to go to Rules & Groups ->Rules and create a new Driving Rule that gets broken when devices exit the zone.
The last step is to create a distribution list and add recipients to it.
