What is the purpose of the aided GPS checkbox in the devices' Advanced Parameters tab?

Re: Aided GPS

Aided GPS is ephemeris data (satellite positional data) that can be sent to the unit every hour via RF or W-Fi. When the ignition is turned on, the unit determines if the ephemeris data in memory is valid and uses the data to obtain a quicker latch time. The data allows the on-board GPS to remain in a warm state rather than a cold state.  A warm GPS latch may take seconds, while a cold latch could be more than 1 minute. The use of Aided GPS is only supported in GO3/GO4 RF and Wi-Fi platforms. The aided GPS hardware/software solution integrates with Checkmate 5.3 to provide aided GPS data. The customer will be required to purchase the aided GPS hardware package with GPS Antenna. Only 1 aided GPS hardware package is required for the entire organization since the service can be made available to every fleet within the organization via Checkmate.
