Who we are looking for:

We are looking for a Remote Sr. Project Manager to manage key projects and initiatives championed or sponsored by the Operations team with a focus on government opportunities. The projects will vary in scope, complexity, and affected business area. We are looking for a project management professional who is comfortable working with key stakeholders in all areas of the business.


What are the details of this position:

As a Sr. Project Manager you will be responsible for creating and managing a project’s scope, project plan, and deliverables. You will be required to work with project stakeholders, involving them in key business decisions. You will be responsible for the implementation of the project tasks, as well as managing day-to-day activities. You will also need to provide regular status reports to key stakeholders to ensure the project is on time and meeting expectations. You will need to work closely with all Geotab teams, so that you are able to perform your job to the highest level. 

This person will be a self-starter with strong written and verbal presentation and communication skills, and holds the ability to quickly understand complex, technical concepts. In addition, the successful candidate will have strong analytical, business and project management skills with an ability to identify needs, develop effective solutions, and manage projects through completion. The successful candidate will also be able to manage multiple timelines and contrasting priorities to ensure timely results. 



Duties and Tasks/Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for overall project execution success, serving as main point of contact for client and senior management for the project.
  • Establish project governance and prepare detailed project plans within the standards of project management methodologies detailing schedules, controls, resources, costs and daily tasks. 
  • Support all aspects of the implementation and progression of assigned projects, from original concept through project closure activities.
  • Support Government Sales and Business Leads in request for proposal responses.
  • Review statements of work (SOW) and/or awarded contracts.
  • Assist stakeholders in all facets of the project, including directing, managing and administering the accomplishment of all aspects of the awarded contract or SOW to ensure completion of all project activities within the established budget and schedule.
  • Effectively communicate and control project scope. Ensure project is delivered to scope defined within the awarded contract or SOW and ensure any deviations are processed via defined change control process.
  • Assist in defining the resources required to support the project.
  • Proactively predict and communicate issues/risks and consult with clients and team leads to find creative solutions to mitigate impact to baseline.
  • Ensure a strong and seamless relationship with key stakeholders (internal/external) by maintaining regular project communication.
  • Interface with government clients in a professional manner.
  • Lead and facilitate project meetings and presentations.
  • Comply with all requirements established for the PM role in awarded contracts or statements of work.
  • Maintain up-to-date project document repository.
  • Participate in establishing best practices, templates, policies, tools and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization
  • Ensure adherence to corporate standards and practices and serve as a key contact in the escalation process.
  • Coach, mentor and motivate more junior PMs.


  • Experience/Skills Required:

  • Engineering degree or bachelor’s degree in business commerce.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of government experience with a mix of technical and project management/leadership roles.
  • Formalized project management training and certification (PMP).
  • Must complete U.S. government background check if required.
  • Experience developing RFP responses a plus.
  • Strong ability to absorb and deliver highly technical requirements into an action plan delivered downward and upward within the organization.
  • Should be comfortable interacting with government counterpart and be able to make presentations in the accomplishment of work duties.
  • Experienced PM with the ability to successfully drive projects to completion while managing the right balance of process without burdening the entrepreneurial spirit of the company.
  • Excellent communication (written, verbal and presentation) and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience negotiating vendor/client contracts a plus.
  • Flexible with proven ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Experience leading, motivating and managing various project team sizes, including internal and external resources, while holding team accountable for performance.
  • Experience in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools and partnerships to expand and mature the capabilities of the PMO.
  • Technically competent with various software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Google business products (Sheets, Docs, Slides) and Smartsheet.
