What are the details of this position:
The Geotab Learning Center team provides an extensive curriculum to educate our customers on the use and value of the Geotab product suite, in addition to our Marketplace Partner integration offerings. As an Instructional Designer, your key responsibility is to streamline and evaluate the delivery methods of adult learning content, overseeing end-to-end during each design cycle. You will leverage a strong background in e-learning, content development, and visual design (UI/UX) to create exceptional learning experience hosted in our LMS. This role will collaborate closely with Learning Center teammates, internal subject matter experts, as well as training audiences as a central contributor to the design process and articulating objectives, assessments, and activity paths of each course.

Duties and Tasks/Essential Functions:

  • Partner with faculty, academic directors to develop course outcomes and clearly articulate the course objectives, requirements, and assessment criteria for face-to-face, online and hybrid courses
  • Design instructional approaches appropriate for the course outcomes and requirements that fully leverage the benefits of the delivery method
  • Collaborate with training facilitators to troubleshoot technical problems and brainstorm creative solutions for the delivery of live sessions
  • Oversee and review course development projects to ensure that final courses maintains the integrity of the initial design blueprint
  • Participate in course authentication and approves final versions for readiness to "go live"
  • Review course analytics regularly to assess course design theories as they play out over time, to identify creative solutions for course improvements, and to recommend need for revision (re-entry into the development cycle)
  • Work with Learning Center Manager to define goals and course sequences for current and future course offerings
  • Participate in faculty development initiatives designed to improve faculty preparedness in course design, delivery, and assessment
  • Participate in strategic initiatives to drive innovation and operationalize quality at scale
  • Research and disseminate best practices contributing to innovations in teaching and learning with technology (e-learning)
  • Analyze the end user technology environment (desktop and network) to determine limitations to media, graphic and audio development. Select technology solution that is consistent with both technology infrastructure and learning audience needs.
  • Work along side graphic designers to translate instructional concepts into interactive graphics or animations that reinforce the concepts specified by the content developers and subject matter experts
  • Write one blog post per year

  • Experience/Skills Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Education, or related field
  • 5+ years experience developing e-learning courses
  • Thorough knowledge of adult learning theory, practices, and emerging instructional technologies
  • Ability to apply visual design skills to create engaging, interactive online, instructor-led, or print-based learning experiences
  • Knowledge of streaming audio and video, compression methods, file types, and formats
  • Experience with web-based learning management systems, e-Learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline or Captivate), and graphic design software (Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign)
  • Experience with basic web development (HTML & CSS) an asset
  • Knowledge of SCORM and other standards for online course delivery
  • Advanced in using Google business suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
