Ideally this person has worked in the tech industry and knows how technical people tick and what keeps them motivated and excited to work at Geotab.  Our new HR leader will work closely with the current team, be able to bring new fresh progressive ideas and global leadership to the table, be an HR visionary - being capable of capitalizing on our current strengths and help us implement a robust plan for the future!

This senior Human Resource Leader will be challenged to successfully assist in navigating the organization through the evolving business as we rapidly grow to the biggest and most powerful telematics company in the world. This person will foster our culture, drive the business forward, support leadership and plan to help create and execute HR strategy for our global business. This person will need to work well in existing team and with all business leaders within the organization.

Duties and Tasks of this Position:

  • Evaluate and assess global human resource current functions and performance
  • Review and contribute to current 2019 HR strategy
  • Provide insight into improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as for providing individuals with professional and personal growth opportunities
  • Assist with the organization's plans and programs as a strategic partner, but particularly from the perspective of the impact on people and protecting culture during significant growth
  • Provide insight into new and progressive compensation and benefits programs to provide motivation, incentives and rewards for effective performance in all different areas of the business.
  • Work with the team on implementing new and appropriate policies and programs for effective management of the people resources of the organization.
  • Provide planning models to identify competency, knowledge and talent gaps and develop specific programs to fill the identified gaps. 
  • Implement  proper succession planning programs for key contributors and senior management positions, training and development programs for preparing employees for more significant responsibilities, and general business development programs to enhance employee knowledge and understanding of the business of the company and the software industry.
  • Work with the team to produce effective programs, policies, practices and processes associated with meeting the strategic and operational people issues of the organization.
  • Develop with the team, new and progressive performance evaluation procedures and workbooks to effectively evaluate employees performance. Track, analyse and report on this.
  • Provide insights and recommendations on best HR systems for our ever growing business. Assist the team with the implementation of these system.
  • Provide insight and reports into HR data and analytics
  • Assist with senior Leadership team on issues affecting human capital performance, strategic leadership, regulatory and ethics concerns, organizational design and development, global talent strategy including sourcing, engagement, attraction, development and retention.
  • Provides technical advice and knowledge to others within the human resources domain on subjects such as global mobility and relocation, employee communications, employee safety and health, and community relations.
  • Assist the team with managing the budget and other financial measures of the HR department.

  • Experience/Skills Required:

  • University degree such as Human Resources, Business Admin, Management or Psychology.  MSc/MA/MBA is preferable
  • CHRP,  CHRL, CHRE designation also preferable
  • Experience working within technical or engineering organization, knowledge of the high-technology industry
  • Advanced capability in strategic human resources management, innovative and visionary planning and implementation, analysis and informed decision making, coaching and leadership and communications
  • Demonstrable evidence of HR expertise and thought leadership
  • Solid understanding of Ontario employment and Human Rights Legislation
  • Strong business acumen, comfortable to communicate with executives and Advisory Board
  • Working experience with Google Apps an asset
