Geotab is actively seeking a Desktop Technician who is passionate about customer service, and who has studied some sort of Computer Networking or Computer Science degree at a university level. A candidate with at least a year of experience working in a service desk environment that can quickly contribute to the the Technical Services team would be an ideal candidate. What are the details of this position:

As a Desktop Technician, your key area of responsibility is to provide internal and external technical support for IT related issues to a growing number of Geotab employees and partners. The ideal candidate enjoys tackling changing demands and priorities, troubleshooting an array of hardware and software related issues, as well as learning new technologies on a regular basis. A successful candidate will have hands-on experience with the G Suite administration, working with various operating systems, and a wide variety of office peripherals. The Desktop Technician will be expected to provide consistent and responsive customer service to internal and external stakeholders, and to contribute to a team goal of zero down time. In this role you will be developing new operating procedures to streamline IT processes, as well as documenting and implementing current plans. 



Duties and Tasks/Essential Functions:

  • Configure, install, troubleshoot and maintain staff laptops, computers and network printers
  • Ensure connections between computers and peripherals are in working order
  • Provide first-level, daily IT support to internal staff (including remote users)
  • Develop and update shared Geotab knowledge base/instructions for IT team
  • Compile, maintain, and keep up-to-date documentation on all areas of responsibility, including asset database
  • Manage and maintain equipment in all meeting rooms, ensuring devices are in working order
  • Verify security policies are applied to all users (BitLocker, Hostname, Office License, etc)
  • Provide inContact/RingCentral support
  • Provide training to new users on Geotab security policies
  • Continuous learning and Career Development exams


  • Experience/Skills Required:

  • Bachelors of Computer Science, Network Engineering, or other related Degree
  • 1+ years of experience in a service desk environment (providing desktop support and installations for both hardware and software)
  • G Suite Administration experience (troubleshoot Gmail, Administration of inbox rights/access and shared mailboxes)
  • Working experience with Google Docs, Google Drive, etc.
  • Windows 10 Configuration and Support experience
  • Active Directory Administration (Add/Move/Delete users and group management) experience
  • Desktop Imaging Experience 
  • Experience in AWS and/or Google Cloud environment
  • Networking Knowledge including LAN connectivity and Internet connection issues
  • Knowledge of Linux an asset
  • IT related certifications (ie. A+ certification) an asset
