Sydney, Australia – 27th July 2026 - Geotab Inc. ("Geotab"), a global leader in connected operations, video telematics and AI-powered insights, today announced that its GO9B telematics device has been type-approved by Transport Certification Australia (TCA) as a Level 2 assurance device under the National Telematics Framework (NTF).
The approval expands Geotab's heavy transport compliance in Australia. Eligible heavy vehicle operators can now use either the GO9B (Model: GDSAA1, SKUs: GO9-LTEB1TLS and GO9-LTEB2TEN) or GO9-LTM (SKUs: GO9-LTMTLS and GO9-LTMTENO) telematics device to enrol in Telematics Monitoring Application (TMA) and Road Infrastructure Management (RIM) schemes through Geotab's certified Application Service Provider (ASP) platform. The approval is particularly timely as the Heavy Vehicle National Law reforms come into effect, which will require fleet operators to comply with new accreditation systems.
The announcement builds on Geotab's certification as a TCA Application Service Provider in 2025 and the earlier type-approval of its GO9-LTM device. With the addition of the GO9B, transport operators have greater flexibility in how they deploy approved Geotab devices across their fleets, while existing GO9-LTM customers can continue using their current hardware without replacement.
As Australia's freight and transport sector balances increasing compliance requirements with operational efficiency, trusted telematics solutions are helping fleets streamline compliance and safety while maintaining productivity. With both the GO9B and GO9-LTM now TCA-approved, fleets can manage National Telematics Framework schemes alongside their connected operations through a single platform.
Under the National Telematics Framework, eligible transport operators can use Geotab to enrol in:
- Telematics Monitoring Application (TMA): Supports heavy vehicle access management by monitoring vehicle location, time and identity for approved government schemes, with optional support for vehicle configuration and driver self-declaration, with Smart On-Board Mass (Smart OBM) systems support coming soon.
- Road Infrastructure Management (RIM): enables trusted road use data to be collected from enrolled vehicles, helping road managers better understand infrastructure utilisation and reform road network planning.
Together, TCA’s type-approval of both the GO9B and GO9-LTM devices, combined with Geotab's certification as an Application Service Provider, provides eligible Australian transport operators with a trusted, government-recognised telematics solution that supports compliance while integrating with their broader fleet operations.
The GO9B joins the GO9-LTM as a TCA type-approved Level 2 assurance device under the National Telematics Framework. Both devices remain certified, allowing existing customers to continue using their current hardware without replacement.
