Some people lead with big gestures. Raymond leads with home-baked cookies.

A developer by title but a community builder at heart, Raymond has spent nearly a decade contributing to Geotab—not just through his technical skills, but through the culture of connection and kindness that  he helps foster. From late-night code pushes to organizing board game nights and surprising coworkers with fresh treats, Raymond shows up for people.

From FleetCarma to Geotab

Raymond’s journey started in 2015 when he joined FleetCarma straight out of university. When Geotab acquired the company, he stayed—not for the perks or the projects (though those were solid too), but because of the people.

“The culture stayed friendly, welcoming, and supportive,” Raymond says. “That’s what really mattered to me.”

Today, he’s part of the MyGeotab Development Sustainability pillar, working on Team Amethyst. A quiet high performer, Raymond played a pivotal role in developing the EV Charge Monitoring page—a feature that helps customers manage electric vehicle charging and dispatch with greater efficiency. His ability to deliver under pressure and collaborate across teams made a measurable impact on both the timeline and the tool’s success.

Creating Inside and Outside of Work

Raymond’s passion for building extends well beyond lines of code. In his free time, he finds joy in gardening, cooking, and crafting treats in the kitchen. He’s also diving into woodworking—a new and complex hobby that’s piqued his curiosity.

“There’s something really satisfying about creating with your own hands,” he says. “It’s about working on it and seeing it through.”

That same spirit of creativity shows up at work—most notably in the homemade snacks and game nights he organizes at the Waterloo office. “I like sharing,” Raymond says. “Bringing in treats or hosting a Games Night—those are ways to bring people together.”

And bring people together he does. His casual events have become a fixture of the office culture, making it easier for teammates to connect across departments and break the ice with new colleagues.

Leading with Kindness

Raymond doesn’t seek the spotlight—but his impact is hard to miss. His approach is simple: be generous, be supportive, and create spaces where others feel welcome. Whether it's in his role as a developer or as the unofficial morale booster of the Waterloo office, he embodies what it means to live Geotab’s values.

A quote he lives by comes from Sheldon Menery:
"I’m not great at everything, but I am great at one thing: Surrounding myself with excellent people. And that tends to take care of the rest.”

For Raymond, success isn’t about perfection—it’s about collaboration. “We all have flaws and strengths,” he says. “The magic happens when we lean into each other’s strengths.”

From developing tools that make customers’ EV operations smarter to building community through shared moments and homemade treats, Raymond is a reminder of how living our core values—like collaboration, innovation, and doing the right thing—can make a lasting impact.

Sometimes, all it takes is a good game—and a thoughtful gesture.
