For many interns and new graduates at Geotab, the journey begins with the Campus Talent team. As a Team Lead in Campus Talent Acquisition, Tharsiga has become a pivotal figure in shaping the company's future, one hire at a time. It’s a role she was seemingly destined for, driven by a deep-seated passion for helping young professionals find their footing. This dedication has earned her the affectionate title of “Intern Mom,” a badge she wears with immense pride.

Before she found her way to the tech world, Tharsiga honed her skills in the fast-paced realms of insurance and retail. It was there she discovered her talent for connecting with people, but her path into talent acquisition was truly forged by her own initiative. During an early internship as a fundraising assistant, she proactively sought more responsibility, discovering a natural passion for coordinating and placing volunteers. By stepping beyond her job description, she found the career she was meant for.

In 2021, she brought that passion to Geotab.

“I joined as a Campus Talent Partner, then shortly after stepped into a Team Lead role,” Tharsiga shares. “My journey has been all about growing and evolving the Campus Program. What started as a partner-level role quickly turned into a leadership opportunity where I’ve been able to drive real change, build strong partnerships, and champion the next generation of Geotabbers.”

That evolution has been substantial. The Campus Program team has helped place over 1,000 students into meaningful roles, contributing to significant impact in key technical areas like Software Development, Data & Analytics, and Embedded Engineering.

Tharsiga’s commitment is deeply personal because she has faced the same uncertainty as the students she now guides. She vividly remembers the stress of her university co-op search, landing an offer only after 12 rejections. That same resilience was required after graduation, when her first professional role wasn’t a permanent dream job, but a short-term contract. She accepted it immediately, recognizing it as a critical foot in the door that would open every opportunity that followed.

It’s why she so clearly sees and understands the anxieties students face today. "One of the most common challenges I see is the fear that not landing an internship right away means failure,” she explains. “I always try to remind them that your first ‘no’ doesn’t define you, and neither do your first ten.”

This blend of honest feedback and steadfast support defines her approach and is instrumental in building a campus program that feels like a community. From volunteer days at local food banks to pumpkin carving in the fall, she and her team have cultivated a supportive environment where interns can thrive. “Being the ‘Intern Mom’ means bringing heart into the work,” she says. “I want our students to know they’re seen, supported, and celebrated.”

For Tharsiga, this work is more than a job; it’s the realization of a clear and powerful mission. At Geotab, she’s committed to building meaningful pathways that bridge the gap between campus and career—driven by the belief that when we invest  in early talent, it doesn't just shape careers, it changes lives.
