We do not claim ownership of the telematics data collected through our solution, which includes information from your vehicles and any personal data you or your drivers input.

Our philosophy is rooted in the principles of fair access to and use of data. By making your data more accessible and usable, we aim to encourage innovation and increase overall data availability.

Product privacy features
Users may determine which categories of vehicle data, among those collected by the Geotab device, they wish to have access to.
Our solution empowers users with full control over their vehicle data. Customers can securely delete data collected from vehicles residing on Geotab’s servers at a time of their choosing, or configure it for automatic deletion at regular, predefined intervals. This ensures data is retained only as long as necessary and securely disposed of.
We encourage users to avoid uploading personal identifiers to the platform. Our solution is designed for effective use with non-personal identifiers, such as vehicle nicknames, make/model, or other generic descriptors, promoting data minimization while maintaining full functionality. For further data management, the "Archiving Assets" feature allows users to remove a vehicle from their active list while retaining its historical data for reporting purposes. Security permissions/clearances also enhance privacy by allowing administrators to regulate user access, granting either 'View' or 'Edit' rights to specific pages and functions within MyGeotab.
Geotab maintains a comprehensive information security program. We have implemented a multi-layered approach, involving advanced technical, stringent physical and robust organizational measures to proactively prevent unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, deletion or modification of data processed within our solution.
Our MyGeotab SaaS solution incorporates a built-in Audit Log feature. This capability ensures transparency and direct accountability by recording all actions performed and pages visited by an authenticated user during their session, providing a clear and auditable trail of activity.
The "Allow Reseller Access" System Setting provides a crucial privacy mechanism for our clients. This feature enables fleet owners to explicitly control whether their authorized resellers can access their databases for tier-one troubleshooting purposes, ensuring data access is always at the client's discretion.
Product privacy
Enhanced restricted data mode
Geotab offers “Restricted Data mode,” providing users with granular control over vehicle data. Drivers and fleet managers can prevent MyGeotab from storing GPS coordinates and/or GPS speed for vehicles in certain circumstances. When Restricted Data Mode is enabled, location features that are GPS, such as position, trips, speed profiles, and GPS-based exceptions, are not available in MyGeotab, based on the user's determination as the data controller.
