The Power of Storytelling: Felipe Hoffa's Impact on Geotab's Data and AI

For Felipe Hoffa, a great story can change everything. In fact, a story is what first connected him to Geotab. Back in 2018, while working as a BigQuery Developer Advocate for Google, Felipe reached out to Geotab to feature their data science work in a video for Google Cloud's YouTube channel. He saw the power in our data and wanted to tell that story. Years later, that initial connection came full circle when Geotab’s Mike Branch and Bob Bradley reached out with a unique opportunity. Driven by the question, “How can I help improve the world?” Felipe made the decision to join Geotab, stating, “To become a better advocate, it’s time to become a builder again.”

A New Chapter: Telling Geotab's Story

Now, Felipe is putting his passion for advocacy and technical storytelling to work at Geotab, helping to shape and share the company's data and AI narrative with the world as a Principal Data & AI Intelligence Advocate. His goals and the questions he asks himself for his role are: 

• How can he tell the Geotab data+AI story to builders globally? 
• How can he empower others inside the company to tell it? 
• How can he build the channels to make that story heard? 

Felipe's role integrates communication with technical expertise. This includes developing prototypes that showcase Geotab's capabilities and demonstrate how customers can leverage these same tools. His time in San Francisco is dedicated to continuous learning and engaging with the tech community through in-person events.

Making an Impact

Though he only joined the team four months ago, Felipe has already made a significant impact. He has collaborated on a video with the marketing team, recorded an internal podcast discussing our cutting-edge AI research papers, and developed a highly popular internal demo featuring Geotab Ace. Looking ahead, Felipe is slated to present at Mobility Connect and has already bridged a crucial gap by connecting a new customer data team—who happens to have Europe's largest EV fleet—with Geotab's data team.

A Technical Storyteller at Heart

Felipe’s unwavering desire to be a “technical storyteller that wants to meaningfully inspire and improve the world” has been a consistent theme throughout his life. This passion led him to pursue studies at the New York Film Academy concurrently with a computer science degree in Chile. Outside of work, Felipe’s passions still connect to his core values. He enjoys exploring San Francisco on public bikes, embracing a healthy, carbon-free mode of transportation. And, of course, he loves going to the movies—a perfect hobby for a lifelong storyteller.
