Expansion of base plan to support additional IOX add-ons

Global telematics leader also expands its open platform for telematics with new powerful IOX Add-Ons

Toronto, Ontario – March 23, 2016 – Geotab, the leading open platform in telematics with more than 500,000 vehicles in 70 countries, today introduced a new series of IOX Add-Ons to further expand fleet management capabilities for customers: IOX-ALERT, IOX-COMSPREAD, and IOX-OUTPUT. These new Add-Ons, most of which are supported on the Base plan, are the latest additions to Geotab’s solutions for fleet management, which allows users and developers to easily build new applications and integrate other business systems to maximize value.

  • Driver-Initiated Alert Notification: IOX-ALERT — With IOX-ALERT, a driver can push an alert button to send a notification to their dispatcher. When activated, a specific engine diagnostic is recorded in MyGeotab; exception rules can be created to generate a notification in response. IOX-ALERT is expected to have high demand in Latin American markets.
  • Substance Spreader Controller: IOX-COMSPREAD — Companies can gain greater awareness of their operations with IOX-COMSPREAD, a Substance Spreader Controller supporting Rexroth Compu-Spread CS-440 and CS-550 solid and liquid spreader controllers commonly found on snow vehicle equipment. IOX-COMSPREAD reports the amount of material spread, time of spreading, and the spread rate (ProPlus plan required). High demand for IOX-COMSPREAD is expected in Canada and the northern states in the USA where winter road treatments are regulated.
  • Relay Controller: IOX-OUTPUT — Fleet managers can enhance control and communication by sending commands directly from MyGeotab to sensors or third-party devices in the vehicle, or control a relay from the vehicle in real-time. IOX-OUTPUT connects to a controllable relay that will trigger when a predefined condition in MyGeotab is met. Like all IOX devices, IOX-OUTPUT can be installed in combination with all other IOX options for a truly compatible platform.

To encourage Geotab platform customers to take advantage of expansion options, Geotab has now added IOX functionality to its entry level Base price plan. Geotab’s Input/Output Expanders connect easily to the Geotab GO7 telematics device and can be combined with any of the existing IOX options, such as IOX-AUXM, IOX-BUZZ, IOX-GOTALK (ProPlus required for real-time, rules-based notifications), IOX-NFCREADER, IOX-SATIRDv2 (available on Base for a monthly fee), and IOX-USBM/F (only charging functionality supported on Base).
