Protecting public safety fleets is more complex than ever. Today’s first responders are under pressure to respond quickly, operate efficiently, and maintain public trust. In high-stakes situations, vehicle performance can be the difference between a rapid response and a critical delay. That’s why Axon, the leader in public safety technologies, and Geotab are working together to deliver data-driven insights that help keep public safety fleets safe and operating efficiently so they can focus on protecting their communities.
Through this new partnership, agencies can leverage Axon’s body-worn cameras, in-car video, and real-time alerts alongside Geotab’s telematics data and insights. Together, these technologies provide a live view of field operations to improve officer safety, coordination, and response times.

Fresh off announcing our new partnership, I recently had the opportunity to attend Axon Week 2025, Phoenix, a global event that brought together public safety leaders, agency representatives, and technology providers. It was a powerful moment to connect in person, share our collective vision, and align on our shared goal: to make communities safer through innovation. Expert speakers and panels addressed pressing topics on public safety policy, training, crime reduction, communication, and officer wellness. From keynote speeches, to breakout sessions and hallway conversations, one theme rang clear: intelligence from integrated sources is the future of public safety.
From the Field to the Future: Why This Work Matters
As someone who started my career on the front lines, I carry a deep appreciation for the daily realities of public safety work. That experience informs how I think about the role of technology—not as a replacement for human judgment, but as a support system that enables better decisions and safer outcomes.
More Than Just Hardware: A Vision for Smarter Public Safety

Across the event, public safety leaders, agency representatives, and technology providers shared how unified awareness and responsible innovation — made possible through an integrated ecosystem — are transforming how agencies operate and protect communities. Integrating actionable data from intelligent feeds, from drones to fixed cameras, community resources to telematics devices, is the foundation for near real-time awareness, better coordination, and safer outcomes.
Geotab is a key part of providing agencies the data that matters. Imagine this: a high-speed pursuit occurs. Combining Axon’s technology and Geotab telematics, an agency can review the body-worn camera footage alongside vehicle telematics—speed, braking, location, asset tracking—giving trainers and policymakers a full picture of what happened and how to respond next time. It’s real data, for a real-world impact.
This is what we’re building, and through our work with Axon, we envision a future in which Geotab’s data and insights form a cohesive picture with other data feeds so officers can focus on their mission and keep communities safer.
The Human Element
Beyond the exciting advancements in technology, Axon Week 2025 underscored a critical truth: the human element must be at the heart of innovation, genuinely supporting the people behind the badge.
Sessions on officer wellness, ethical AI use, and stress-reducing technologies highlighted this vital theme. This perspective helps us gain a better perspective on advanced capabilities; technologies like AI Drone as First Responder (DFR) programs or Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) missions are not designed to replace human decision-making. Instead, we discussed how they serve as "force multipliers." These powerful tools enhance situational awareness and speed response times precisely to help keep officers and communities safer. Ultimately, it reaffirmed my belief that our mission is centered not just on smart solutions, but on empowering those who serve and protecting those who protect us.

Looking Ahead: A Force Multiplier for Good
Axon Week 2025 was a powerful reminder of why we do what we do. Hearing public safety challenges and visions firsthand underscored a critical point: the most impactful innovations come from genuine collaboration, with vendors taking responsibility to work together in building solutions that are thoughtfully designed for those on front line. The spirit of ‘Responsible Innovation’ was ever-present, recognizing that deploying these powerful technologies must be guided by ethical principles and transparency to build and maintain public trust.
Looking ahead, I am excited to be a part of an open, collaborative ecosystem that integrates best-in-class technologies into a single platform. When we work together, we can build a connected public safety network that enables unified awareness and smarter, safer responses.
