NOTE: The images shown here are for illustration purposes only, and may appear different in the software as we approach the final release

Release naming convention: We have changed our software version naming convention from “YY+release number” (e.g. 2104) to X.X (e.g. 6.0.0). Instead of 5.7.2104, the notation of this version is 6.0.0. The release that follows will be 7.0.0, and so on.

Trip Categorization

Trip Categorization is now in Feature Preview. This feature allows drivers to classify their assigned driving trips as either business or personal. This collected information can be used as the basis for employee expense claims, to calculate fringe benefit taxes and to create corporate driving logbooks.

Trip Categorization is accessed from the Trips module on the Drive App’s main Dashboard. Administrators can generate Trip Categorization reports in the Trips History section of the Fleet Management App, which shows distance and ratios driven under each category for each driver.

To set up security clearances with trip categorization:

  • For trip categorization only, add Trips and activity report and Manage driver activity group.
  • To require annotations for each trip, also add View trip annotations and Administer trip annotations.

To enable this feature for a driver:

  • Enable the Trip Categorization flag under Feature Preview.
  • Ensure the driver’s security clearance is set up properly with above mentioned security identifiers.

Future releases will add improvements to the Drive side Trips module as well as a myGeotab interface for admins to view and edit trip categories and annotations.
