In a move that helps bring the company a step closer to increasing its presence, service offering and leadership position within the Latin American fleet management market, Geotab is well positioned to provide Brazil-based logistics and transportation customers with access to its advanced, award-winning telematics solution. The expansion represents a strategic move for Geotab as it seeks to invest in Brazil’s talent, resources and market potential to ultimately help fuel the adoption and innovation for telematics throughout the region.

“While the Brazilian commercial telematics market continues to remain among the strongest in Latin America, the opportunities to scale this technology are immense,” said Geotab CEO, Neil Cawse. “Our presence in Brazil not only creates significant growth opportunities for Geotab, but also will allow us to employ local talent and invest in the immense resources and expertise that Brazil has to offer, allowing us to implement the right data-based solutions to help businesses of all sizes, better manage their fleets.

According to data from the Confederação Nacional do Transporte (CNT), 2020 Transport Yearbook, there were more than 2.2 million vehicles authorized to transport cargo in Brazil in 2019. Road transport in the country remains the prevalent method for trade and the transportation of goods, with vehicle-based freight transportation accounting for more than 60% of Brazil’s transportation network. As Latin America’s largest economy, Brazil has more than 1.7 million kilometers of road network, deeming the country’s fleet and transportation industry essential in supporting the overall economic health of the region.

With this data in mind, Geotab’s cutting-edge telematics solution is well positioned to help Brazilian business and fleets reduce fuel usage, improve safety, optimize productivity and much more, while also increasing profitability in an essential industry within the country. Processing more than 40 billion data points per day from over 2 million connected vehicles around the globe, Geotab’s suite of fleet management solutions and rich vehicle data analytics help to provide increased visibility into cargo movement and logistics, enabling vital communication between companies and their drivers.
