Geotab and Cirrus Link Solutions enhance fleet management

Now you can take further advantage of valuable Geotab fleet information by providing direct WebSphere connectivity to your backend enterprise systems

February 07, 2013 – Geotab, North America's largest telematics provider to enterprise fleets, and Cirrus Link Solutions have teamed up to provide Enterprise Service Bus integration capabilities. Users looking to further integrate their telematics data from Geotab into their enterprise applications can use Cirrus Link's Chariot data broker in concert with IBM's WebSphere suite of connectivity products. The Chariot data broker integrates Geotab's telematics services with WebShpere's ESB technology, to provide fleet telematics data in real time to as many data consumers that have expressed an interest using publish & subscribe technology.

To maximize the ROI of telematics data, the information must be integrated directly into all business applications through an automatic, real-time approach. This eliminates the need for any additional manual processes or application developments. Cirrus Link’s Chariot data broker, collects all the real time information from Geotab and publishes it to as many data subscribers that have expressed interest in real time. This can include internal business applications, external 3rd party applications, and mobile applications.

Neil Cawse, Geotab’s CEO believes that in order to bring the most value to a business, data coming from the vehicle systems like location information, driving safety, when and who are making customer stops, vehicle maintenance info and vehicle fuel usage must be integrated into the businesses back end systems.

In Response, Chris Houghton, CEO at Cirrus Link, explains, “Ever so often after a customer has installed the telematics solutions, they see other uses for the data which can drive down costs. We call this the serendipitous nature of data, and its one of the key strengths of the Chariot data broker. Anyone can add a subscription at any time to a piece of data they are interested in to receive a stream in real-time.”
