Toronto, Ontario (January 24, 2024) Geotab Inc. (“Geotab”), a global leader in connected transportation solutions, today announced a further legal victory with the successful dismissal of a patent infringement lawsuit filed by Minotaur, a non-practicing entity (NPE). Minotaur agreed to a full and final dismissal of the case with no payment from Geotab.

"Our resolve is to confront these meritless litigations head-on, refusing to give in to the extortionate tactics of patent assertion entities," said Dirk Schlimm, Executive Vice President at Geotab. "Investing in our defensive strategies, we defend not just our work but set a precedent for the industry. Our determined efforts have seen victories against the likes of patent exploiters such as WirelessWerx, Stormborn, Inventergy, among others."

In standing true to its mission to foster innovation, Geotab opposes the disruptive actions of patent trolls whose only aim is to derail genuine technological progress. The company’s litigation track record is a testament to its commitment to combat these types of frivolous lawsuits. Geotab is eager to offer guidance and support to others in the industry who may be under siege by NPE tactics.

Geotab's cross-functional internal patent litigation team collaborated with Wolf Greenfield & Sacks, P.C., to develop and execute Geotab's innovative and aggressive strategy to help combat NPE patent litigation and dispose of these lawsuits.
