Geotab expands telematics capabilities into off-road market with a suite of new heavy equipment solutions

Comprehensive offering includes launch of AEMP 2.0 integration option and availability of new GO RUGGED device

Toronto, Ontario - October 23, 2019 - Geotab, a global leader in IoT and connected transportation, today announced its newly available AEMP 2.0 integration option as well as the launch of its newest GO RUGGED device. Helping to expand Geotab’s telematics capabilities into the off-road market, these new offerings enable better visibility for heavy equipment fleet managers, regardless of their fleet size, by providing both integrated and hardwired options to help better manage off-road vehicles and assets within a single platform.

In line with Geotab’s vision of providing heavy equipment fleets with a flexible and comprehensive fleet management solution, fleet customers can now enable AEMP 2.0 data feeds directly from off-road OEM’s factory-fit telematics solutions to provide businesses with a singular view of their vehicles within the Geotab platform. The AEMP 2.0 standard was created by the Association of Equipment Management Professionals to establish a basic protocol and API for viewing various manufacturer’s data in a single repository.

On the heels of integration announcements with OEMs such as Ford, Volvo and Mack, Geotab recently partnered with John Deere to, with permission from the customer, pull the OEM’s AEMP 2.0 data from the company’s integrated telematics solution. This integration will enable businesses operating John Deere vehicles within their fleet to have complete visibility into their workforce, assets and costs in a single platform, promoting the understanding of fuel usage, idling trends, engine hours and PTO usage, ultimately easing the management of off-road fleets.

“Working with renowned partners such as John Deere helps to open the door for other potential opportunities with heavy equipment OEMs who are looking to provide their customers with a more integrated solution,” said Geotab’s Scott Sutarik, Vice President, Commercial Vehicle Solutions. “Not all heavy equipment OEMs utilize the AEMP 2.0 standard however and as such, fleets may require an alternative solution, such as a third-party telematics device, to provide them with access to the essential data needed to ensure optimal fleet management. Geotab’s new GO RUGGED device is a great option.”

Enabling off-road fleets to GO RUGGED

Joining the company’s award-winning suite of fleet management solutions, Geotab also announced today the availability of its newest GO RUGGED device, a ruggedized telematics solution with the added benefit of LTE capabilities.

With this new device, heavy equipment fleets can access Geotab’s powerful open and secure telematics platform which couples traditional fleet management with industry-leading data analytics capabilities to provide rich, actionable insights. The new GO RUGGED, with a durable exterior enclosure, allows for installation outside of the vehicle which is ideal for fleets operating in harsh elements.

Additional features of Geotab’s GO RUGGED device includes:

  • Accident detection and notification
  • IP67-rated
  • Built-in auto-calibrating accelerometer
  • Engine diagnostics and battery health assessment
  • G-force monitoring
  • IOX expandability, which allows users to expand the capability of their fleet management solution
  • Near real-time vehicle data and fast GPS acquisition time

“Strategically designed to withstand harsh environmental factors such as ice, heat and dust, the new GO RUGGED brings the benefit of GPS tracking to the heavy equipment market, while providing specific features that meet the unique needs of off-road fleets,” added Sutarik. “Whether your off-road vehicles have a factory-fit telematics product or you are leveraging the GO RUGGED to better manage your heavy equipment fleet, Geotab provides businesses with the option to have improved visibility over all vehicles - off-road and on - within one platform.”
