Geotab launches new GO RUGGED telematics device

Published on July 1, 2016

Now fleets with heavy equipment, yellow iron, and powered trailers and assets can access the latest GPS technology and advanced telematics capabilities

Toronto, Ontario – June 30, 2016 – Geotab today announced the availability of GO RUGGED, an advanced, ruggedized telematics device designed for harsh conditions or external installation. Ideal for use in construction and engineering, agriculture, utilities, oil and gas, and mining, the GO RUGGED telematics device allows users to access critical data insights and business intelligence for increased uptime and efficiency, enhanced driver and fleet safety, and reduced fuel and maintenance costs.

"Fleets with heavy equipment, yellow iron, farm equipment, and powered trailers and assets often face a unique set of challenges due to their exposure outdoors," said Geotab CEO Neil Cawse. "With the GO RUGGED device, owners and operators can be assured that operations will continue to function at an optimal level, regardless of the harsh terrain their vehicles or equipment encounter."

The GO RUGGED features a rugged exterior enclosure, allowing for installation outside of the vehicle, which is ideal for those fleets battling harsh elements. GO RUGGED is IP67-rated, which is the international standard for protection against intrusion of solid objects, dust, accidental contact and water, and also offers engine data reporting on the primary CAN bus.

Additional features of the GO RUGGED, also offered by the Geotab GO7 device, include:

  • IOX expandability, which allows users to expand the capability of their fleet management solution
  • Intelligent in-vehicle driver coaching via IOX-BUZZ or the Geotab GO TALK
  • Accident detection and notification
  • Built-in auto-calibrating accelerometer
  • Engine and battery health assessment
  • G-force monitoring
  • Real-time vehicle data and fast GPS acquisition time
