Toronto, ON - May 5, 2021 - Geotab, a global leader in IoT and connected transportation, today announced it was recognized for overall business performance and sustained growth as a Gold Standard Winner with the prestigious Canada’s Best Managed Companies designation for the fourth consecutive year. The 2021 Best Managed program award winners are amongst the best-in-class of Canadian owned and managed companies with revenues over $25 million demonstrating leadership in the areas of strategy, capabilities and innovation, culture and commitment and financials to achieve sustainable growth.

Now in its 28th year, Canada’s Best Managed Companies remains one of the country’s leading business awards programs recognizing Canadian-owned and managed companies for innovative, world-class business practices. Every year, hundreds of entrepreneurial companies compete for this designation in a rigorous and independent process that evaluates the caliber of their management abilities and practices.

“Throughout the last year, Geotab has remained committed to our core value of ‘always do the right thing,’ continuing to prioritize the success of our employees, partners and customers above all else, while also remaining an innovative staple within the connected vehicle industry,” said Neil Cawse, CEO, Geotab. “While 2020 was a year marked by uncertainty, we continued to focus on adapting to meet the needs of our diverse ecosystem in an ever-changing global climate. Whether it was through sharing data insights to help support commercial transportation, finding new ways to engage and motivate our global workforce or taking exciting products to market, Geotab has always prided itself on ‘thinking big’.”

Despite the uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, Geotab continued to experience growth and success over the last 12 months. Increasing its global employee base by almost 15%, the company also expanded its operations within Southeast Asia, Latin America and Europe. Recognized as the world's number one commercial telematics by ABI Research for two consecutive years, Geotab also introduced several new innovative offerings with a focus on carsharing, connected mobility, electric vehicles and more.

“Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, our employees have continued to display an unparalleled dedication to helping our customers and partners, and contributing to the betterment of our communities around the world,” added Cawse. “We are proud to be recognized as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies for the fourth consecutive year as it helps to affirm that our commitment to our employees and the ecosystem that supports us, has not gone unnoticed.”

Applicants are evaluated by an independent judging panel comprised of representatives from program sponsors in addition to special guest judges. 2021 Best Managed companies share commonalities that include (but are not limited to) enabling a remote workforce, making employee health a top priority, acting with an increased sense of purpose and social responsibility, and a significantly heightened focus on cash flow.

“The past year has posed numerous challenges for Canadian businesses and has touched each and every one in some form or another—including this year’s Best Managed winners,” said Peter Brown, Partner, Deloitte Private and Co-Leader, Canada’s Best Managed Companies program. “They should be extremely proud of this designation and use it as a catalyst to continue the work they do each and every day. Their unwavering commitment to their people, and their adaptability amid a year of turmoil, has led them to this achievement and it mustn’t go unnoticed.”

2021 winners of the Canada’s Best Managed Companies award will be honoured at a virtual gala. The Best Managed virtual symposium will address leading-edge business issues that are key to the success of today’s business leaders.

The Best Managed program is sponsored by Deloitte Private, CIBC, Canadian Business, Smith School of Business, and TMX Group.
