The Canada’s Greenest Employers (2024) competition recognizes employers leading the nation in creating a culture of environmental awareness in their organizations.

“‘Doing the right thing,’ is a core value and guiding principle at Geotab. Examples of Geotab’s green initiatives:

Geotab’s 2023 Sustainability and Impact Report titled “Trust. Transparency. Transformation.” highlights how data-driven insights are helping Geotab and global organizations better measure and achieve their climate goals.

Employee engagement on sustainability drives positive outcomes

This year’s theme emphasizes the role that employees play in combating climate change and inspiring sustainable changes in practices and policies. The Geotab GO Green Team is made up of employees who are passionate about the planet and actively engage in environmental initiatives. These Green Ambassadors are representatives of their associated department and bring in their perspective on how that area of the company can become more sustainable and eco-friendly.

To support employees in choosing sustainable modes of transport and reduce Scope 3 emissions, Geotab offers generous incentive programs, including the Electric Vehicle Incentive Program for purchasing or leasing a qualifying electric vehicle (EV), and a Canadian Public Transport Reimbursement Program covering 100% of an employee’s public transport or bike rental costs for commuting. Additionally, Geotab supports carpooling and has 37 free EV charging stations at its Oakville and Waterloo, Ontario offices for employee and public use.

“The common thread that runs through this year’s winners is that they listen to the employees who care most about implementing green initiatives and encourage them to lead the conversation,” says Chantel Watkins, assistant editor at Mediacorp. “By giving a voice to local champions, the staff members who are most passionate about the environment get the ball rolling on workplace initiatives that can make a significant difference.”

About Canada’s Greenest Employers

Now in its 17th year, Canada's Greenest Employers recognizes companies that have developed exceptional sustainability initiatives – and are attracting people to their organizations because of their environmental leadership.

Winning employers are evaluated and selected by editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers, are evaluated using four main criteria: (1) unique environmental initiatives or programs they have developed; (2) whether they have been successful in reducing their own environmental footprint; (3) whether their employees are involved in these programs and contribute unique skills; and (4) whether the environmental initiatives have become part of an employer’s public identity, attracting new employees and customers.

The full list of Canada’s Greenest Employers (2024) was announced today in a special magazine published by Mediacorp Canada Inc., the nation’s largest publisher of employment periodicals, and distributed online in The Globe and Mail.
