Geotab to provide secure telematics solutions for DHS vehicles through 2022

Las Vegas, NV – December 12, 2017 – Geotab, an award-winning leader in telematics technology, today announced it has been awarded a five-year blanket purchase agreement (BPA) to provide secure telematics solutions for the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Received by Geotab in April 2017, the BPA allows DHS component agency fleet managers to integrate Geotab’s telematics solutions to access actionable data insights for fleet optimization, increased productivity and improved safety and sustainability.

The Department of Homeland Security operates a fleet of over 52,000 vehicles, making them one of the largest federal agencies to issue a telematics blanket purchase agreement of this scale.

“Geotab takes a rigorous approach to data security,” says Neil Cawse, CEO, Geotab. “Our platform security is designed for end-to-end protection of data. In order to protect our customers and partners, Geotab is constantly reviewing, improving and validating our security mechanisms and processes, so our systems remain resilient.”

As a vertically-integrated telematics provider, Geotab manages the entire technology stack from the in-cab hardware and embedded firmware used to encrypt and transmit data, to the secure server-side hosting and software applications. With security at the forefront of Geotab’s innovations, rigorous organizational data security measures are embedded in each solution through meticulous data collection, transmission, and storage encryption that meet industry best practices in cybersecurity. Additionally, Geotab engages third-party penetration testers and services from accredited cybersecurity laboratories to identify vulnerabilities ahead of time.

“Geotab provides customers with comprehensive documentation regarding the technical and organizational data security measures implemented throughout our ecosystem,” adds Cawse. “Geotab is committed to ongoing testing and evaluation to remain compliant with DHS cybersecurity standards for the duration of the five-year blanket purchase agreement.”
