I’ve always believed that the best business ideas come from experience. Early in my career, I had the opportunity to build and scale a powerwashing business with my brother. It taught me a lot about growth, but more importantly, it taught me something I still carry with me today: without visibility into your operations, even the best teams can fall short of their potential.

That lesson stayed with me as I moved into the mobile communications space in the early 1990s. At the time, cellphones were just beginning to reshape how businesses operated. I saw firsthand how connectivity could improve coordination and efficiency for teams in the field. But it also became clear that communication alone was not enough. Businesses needed better insight into what was actually happening across their operations.

Recognizing the real challenge

That realization is what ultimately led me to telematics.

When I first discovered Geotab, what stood out immediately was a shared belief that telematics is not just about tracking vehicles. It is about understanding and acting on data. For fleets, the real challenge is not a lack of information. It is knowing how to turn that information into meaningful action.

That challenge continues to define the industry today. Fleets are under increasing pressure to operate more efficiently, improve safety outcomes, and meet growing sustainability expectations. At the same time, they are managing rising costs and more complex operations. The common thread across all of these challenges is the need for better visibility and smarter decision-making.

Turning data into action

At BlueArrow, our focus has always been on helping customers bridge that gap. We start with a simple question: what problem is the fleet trying to solve? From there, we look at the data and determine how it can be used to drive a practical outcome.

Whether it is reducing fuel waste, improving driver behaviour or identifying inefficiencies across a fleet, the goal is always the same. Take the data that already exists and make it work harder for the customer.

This is where our partnership with Geotab plays a critical role. Geotab’s platform provides a robust and reliable data foundation. That allows us to focus on building solutions that go beyond surface-level insights and deliver measurable value.

We have always believed that the true power of telematics lies in what you do with the data. That shared philosophy has made Geotab a natural partner for us. Having spent years as a reseller before becoming a Marketplace Partner, we understand the importance of that dynamic. When a partner brings us into a customer relationship, they are trusting us to represent their brand as much as our own.

Raising the bar for customer experience

The transportation industry is built on reliability. Customers expect solutions that work, but they also expect support when challenges arise. Technology is never perfect, and issues are inevitable. What defines a strong partner is how those issues are handled.

At BlueArrow, we place a strong emphasis on responsiveness and accountability. We know that how we support customers in critical moments has a direct impact on the trust our partners place in us. That mindset comes from experience. We have been on both sides of the relationship, and we understand what it takes to deliver a consistent, high-quality experience.

Navigating what comes next

The transportation landscape continues to evolve at a rapid pace. Economic pressures, regulatory changes, and sustainability goals are all shaping the decisions fleets need to make. At the same time, the volume of available data continues to grow.

This creates both a challenge and an opportunity. Fleets that can effectively harness their data will be better positioned to adapt and succeed. Those that cannot risk falling behind. Our role is to help customers make sense of that data and use it to move forward with confidence.

Moving forward with purpose

Looking ahead, I am more optimistic than ever about the role telematics will play in the future of transportation. The ability to turn data into actionable insight is no longer a competitive advantage, but a necessity.

For us, it comes back to a simple idea. You cannot manage what you cannot see. Today, fleets have access to more visibility than ever before. The real opportunity lies in what they choose to do with it.
