Most fleets know where their trucks are. Fewer know where their trailers are. When it comes to portable equipment and tools, visibility drops off almost entirely.
That gap between what you can see and what you're actually responsible for costs more than most operations realize. Assets sit idle, running up storage and rental costs with no return. Insurance rates climb with every unrecovered theft. Crews waste hours hunting for equipment that should take seconds to find and that time adds up on every job. When something goes missing, the search starts too late to matter.
A tracker built for trailers won't work for tools. One designed for powered equipment won't cover containers. Fleets managing a mix end up with multiple systems or gaps they've accepted as the cost of doing business.
The GO Anywhere family closes those gaps. Three purpose-built trackers, each designed for a specific challenge, all managed in MyGeotab alongside your vehicles.
What is asset tracking?
Asset tracking is a system for monitoring the location, status and usage of physical assets in real time or near real time. Devices equipped with GPS, RFID and cellular or satellite networks let businesses keep track of assets whether they are in transit, in storage or at a job site. For powered equipment, asset tracking goes further, capturing engine hours, run time and idle time so businesses can make maintenance and billing decisions based on actual usage, not estimates. This visibility helps reduce theft, improve productivity and control costs. Geotab's GO Anywhere family of asset trackers is built to deliver exactly this, with purpose-built solutions for powered equipment, non-powered fleets and portable tools, all managed in one platform.
The GO Anywhere family
GO Anywhere Plus
GO Anywhere Plus is built for powered equipment where knowing location isn't enough. Generators, compressors, trailers and heavy machinery require visibility into actual usage: when they're running, how long and whether maintenance is overdue. Without that data, maintenance schedules and billing decisions are based on guesswork.
Connected to a power source, it reports engine hours, ignition state and inferred hubometer readings in near real time using Geotab's patented Curve Algorithm, which reduces bandwidth while keeping location and usage data accurate. That means maintenance schedules are tied to actual run time rather than calendar estimates and customer billing can be verified against real asset data. Fleet managers also get visibility into underutilized equipment before it becomes a cost problem.
When no power source is available, GO Anywhere Plus switches to its field-replaceable battery targeting three to five years of continued operation. For assets deployed in remote or off-grid locations, Direct-to-Cell satellite via Starlink and 4G LTE Cat-1 bis maintain visibility where standard cellular networks don't reach. (Satellite connectivity available through select carrier partners.)
Reporting modes are configurable from time-based updates to movement-triggered and high-frequency tracking for recovery situations, so fleets can balance data frequency against battery life based on how each asset is used.
Next Gen GO Anywhere
For tracking high-volume non-powered assets, what matters most is consistent and reliable location visibility.
Next Gen GO Anywhere delivers hourly location updates for up to 10 years on a single battery with no wiring, configuration or ongoing maintenance required. There are no batteries to swap out and no setup process to manage, making it practical to deploy across large fleets of trailers, roll-off bins and shipping containers. When an asset goes missing, high-frequency mode activates and reports every 15 minutes for up to 72 hours.Built to handle dust, water and extreme temperatures, it holds up wherever your assets are deployed.
Small Asset Tracking
Small tools and portable equipment are among the hardest assets to track. They move frequently, travel with crews and often go unnoticed as missing until the cost has already added up.
Small Asset Tracking uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacons from the Geotab Marketplace to keep portable tools and equipment visible within MyGeotab. Attach a beacon to a drill, a ladder or a kit. GO devices, cameras and other compatible Geotab solutions* within range scan for it automatically and update its last-known location in MyGeotab without any driver input.
When a tagged item separates from the vehicle, an alert fires based on distance and time so the crew can retrieve it before they leave the area. Because the beacons connect through Geotab's existing device ecosystem, hundreds of items can be tracked without a cellular contract per tag.
How can GO Anywhere trackers help your fleet?
By understanding where your assets are, how they're being used and when they might be at risk of theft, companies can significantly reduce risk, improve productivity and qualify for better insurance rates. Here's how the GO Anywhere family covers the scenarios that matter most:
- Powered field equipment: Near real-time tracking, including off-grid locations, means GO Anywhere Plus helps ensure you always know where your valuable assets are — and what they’re doing.
- Non-powered fleet assets: With a 10-year battery life, zero ongoing maintenance and hourly reporting, Next Gen GO Anywhere keeps trailers, containers and roll-off bins accounted for, alongside your other assets.
- Seasonal and remote assets: Farming equipment, outdoor signage and remote monitoring stations stay visible year-round without requiring wiring or fixed infrastructure.
- Portable tools and inventory: With a digital chain of custody and left-behind alerts from BLE beacons, you always know who had each tool last and where it ended up.
- Theft recovery: High-frequency tracking (GO Anywhere Plus and Next Gen GO Anywhere) provides law enforcement with crucial real-time location data to act fast to recover assets.
What assets can GO Anywhere track for your fleet?
From construction equipment and generators to event signage and power tools, the GO Anywhere family tracks whatever you value most, wherever it's deployed.
Purpose-built solutions for powered assets, non-powered fleets and portable tools integrate seamlessly with the MyGeotab platform, giving organizations a single place to manage asset visibility, improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
